The Grudges of a Disgruntled Daughter

I wish she would just stop saying things. Why can't she ever just let us rant our guts out and speak and swear when we're angry? Is anybody going to die everytime we cuss? Is anybody going to get injured? No.
You might say that yes, someone does get hurt when we do that, but that's all emotional pain. No one should really care. Everybody's feelings get hurt everyday anyway. Why should we be any different?
I just wish that she would stop saying anything. She's starting to sound 1>self-righteous and 2>overly dramatic. It is not a good thing.
It's like she's never been able to get a good grasp of who we are. Of what we're like. Of our little idiosyncrasies, pet peeves, and quirks. To think that we have been living in the same house since we were born.
To think that we were raised by this woman.
And yet, she knows us not.

Utol!!!

Let me ask you this: Why are you so pissed everytime Nanay tells you not to cuss?

Now, let me just reiterate for the sake of clarity that I AM ON YOUR SIDE on this one (I've always been when it comes to this particular issue). However, I find it fascinating that you say that SHE might not have a real grasp on who we are as her kids, and yet, could it be that it is WE who do not have a grasp on who SHE is as our mother, or how SHE was raised?? Maybe it's time for us to change our tune a little bit, li'l sis. I find that it is hard to stay true to who you are and yet SUBMIT to what our parents, as God's reps on earth (first and foremost, even before our church leaders), have to say to us. It is this attitude of SUBMISSION that is hard for us as adults to do. Why, you ask?? Because we have grown up. We have formed our own views and drawn our own conclusions, and in our haste to refute the system and "rise up" against the ruling party, so to speak, we forget that the roots of our parents, and in turn the roots of their forebears, and their forears before them, are still ingrained. We might be called "progressive" and "liberal" but the fact of the matter is this: We are who we are because of those same roots, those self-same roots that force Mom to reprimand us everytime we cuss, or the same roots that compel Dad to spank us (or, at least now, sternly reprimand us) whenever we do something wrong. It is those same roots that we will carry on to the next stage of our lives when we become parents and have children of our own. Believe me, it's all a matter of perspective. I urge you, then, to be a little kinder regarding these feelings of discontent towards good ole' Mother dearest, as you and I the entire Guinmapang brood (I am sure of this) will be compelled to discourage the same behaviors in our own children someday. Now, THIS IN NO WAY VALIDATES OR JUSTIFIES HER TELLING YOU (OR ANY OF US SIBLINGS) NOT TO CUSS; However, I am asking you to extend a little grace towards Mom regarding this issue. Patience, little one. And know always that I love you all, my sisters. You are my heart. If you ever need any advice, or have any questions, just drop me a line. :D

.:gives his little sister a well-deserved hug and gives her a standing ovation on her efforts as a scribe and chronicler:.

Oh!!! And WATCH CRASH!!! Please, I want Mom, you, Lisa, Dia, Esther, and all your friends to watch CRASH. It is the movie that will change your lives (or, at the very least, open your eyes). I highly recommend this. I cried when I saw it. And watch it over and over and over again. I promise, you won't be disappointed.
